A lot of VPS use openVZ and this is the first report over this. Seem related more to the image you use.

Different VPS provider I also signed up with was using the same image for CentOS 7, so I guess this is not as rare as it might seem. They were also aware of this issue when I notified them.

We tested it on Digital Ocean and no issues.
Thank to report VPS providers you got issues with and exact OS images. We will try to check them ( IF WE had time).
Beside that if you check our install script you will see we use standard instructions mostly basic service setup.
I will try to setup OpenVZ on one of my servers and included in next round of tests.
