How to create a Reverse DNS - dmull - 07-20-2016

I am hosting my own VPS at my work who has 100/100 fiber. Reverse DNS is not set up at all on the IP that I have and I need Reverse DNS to send and receive mail from other providers.

Please Help.

I have tried to set one up using Webmin trying to get this working and it is not working.

I have full control over this IP and just need steps on how to set up reverse dns.

Hello @[dmull],
Probably your work ISP won't let you setup a Reverse DNS for your IP, however you should try to get in contact with your ISP in order to be sure.

Reverse DNS are setup on the IP provider and not on the domain provider or the hosting panel (in some cases the IP Provider is the same as the Domain Provider and that's why some people are confused).

Good luck!

The ISP should also set up the ptr record as well? I do not think that I can set it up server side.

Yes.

PTR Records are basically the same as Reverse DNS.
