Daemon High IO

I've set my daemon to run every 20 minutes, because of the amount of disk IO it uses.

Is there anything that can be done about it?

you can even set it to 1 hour. The IO is not so big but notice bigger the time it take to daemon to run, then you wait as long for a new website activation/setup.

IO can get up to 3mb/s - I would classify that as 'big'

3mb/s that's not big and for how long.

Notice daemon run in low priority cron job so it should not overload your server.
