Command to get USB Backup Drive information

1.) From the console, what is the command to display the status of a USB Backup Drive like what is displayed for the main drive with df -h -- size, used, available, etc?

2.) Please refresh my memory: If I unplug the USB connection do I need to do anything special command-wise to reinstall it?
