port 21 clossed

My port 21 is closed and i don't know how to restart proftpd service... when i write service proftpd restart or /etc/init.d/proftdp restart it says that it doesn't exist...

An my iptables is empty..

Can you help me? Thanks in advance

Command

service proftpd start

Service name is proftpD

Likely FTP crashed you can check using status command too.

It says unknow service all the time , i don't know what is wrong... looks like if it was uninstalled of the system.

Are you sure proftpd worked before and was installed?

It's like it's not even there.

no, im not sure cause i've never used it, i'm doing a research for my school about web hosting panels, is there a way i can reinstall it altough i have sentora installed already?

You can check the installer and execute only ftp install routines. Not an easy task.
