Free Wildcard Certificates

Let's encrypt is announcing free wildcard certificates for 2018:

Notice for domain validation most of users use http but you can also use DNS that will allow you to use validation for private ip's without exposing them.

Nope as for wildcard you will need to setup DNS validation not HTTP validation.

Ah yes, I just read that. So, if people want to use wildcard SSL they will need to sort it out manually.

Nope you can still automate it but it's different. You need to wrap over DNS api so you create TXT entries on the fly. I tried it with cloudflare and it works fine.

Oh, ok. I get it. I could edit it to update the DNS TXT records for the selected domain to include the DNS check.

I still first need to fix whatever they changed a while back. I had it working just fine then something changed and now it doesn't write the keys properly

Yep they moved to ACME and broke some scripts... ouch.
